Today we began reading "Superfudge" and we discussed schema. The children learned that schema is text to text connections, text to self connections or text to world connections. Many of the students were able to make text to self connections, identifying with Peter being frustrated with his little brother Fudge. I explained to them that schema is very much like background knowledge. Pictures went as well as could be expected. Unfortunately, our picture time was after lunch and recess. Hopefully the pictures will turn out OK. Picture make up/re-take day will be soon. I have put a link on the left of our blog to do online Scholastic book orders. I will order for anyone that has already turned in money. If you have not turned in money yet and you want to order books, you have the option of ordering them yourself or sending in the money and I will do it for you.
